When I watched the Nature Channel,
Some things I never understood;
Like, why some monkeys have no tails
And why a cobra has a hood.

Why some smart chimps can’t learn to talk
And why some beetles live on dung.
But most of all I wondered why
An animal would eat its young.

My kids are now all in their teens,
Their discipline is out of hand.
Their friends are wild, out of control,
Now I begin to understand.
