Little Fred got lots of money
But no candy on Halloween.
Fred thought folks who give kids money
Instead of candy were plain mean.

Fred took his trick or treat money
Down to the corner candy shop,
To spend every dime on candy
Chewing gum and a lollipop.

The man wrapping up his candy
Who owned the candy store,
Told Fred, “With all of that money,
Shouldn’t you give some to the poor?”

Fred looked at the bag of candy
And thought about what the man said,
That money he spent on candy
Could buy food for the poor instead.

Fred picked up the bag of candy
And said as he went out the door,
“Now that you have all my money
Why don’t you give it to the poor?”
