My teacher asked
About the spot;
A brand new book,
It cost a lot.

Mrs. Garber likes
A good excuse;
I’d tell the truth,
But what’s the use?

She hates spiders,
We kids all knew;
So I told her,
And swore it’s true:

“A spider came
By yesterday;
She wouldn’t leave
Or go away.”

“She snuck right in
Without a sound;
She wanted to
Just hang around.”

“She landed on
My homework book;
I guess to get
A closer look.”

“I shut the book
‘Fore she could flee;
That’s how the spot
Got on page three!”
