At recess she was there again today
In hopes that I would notice her bold flirt.
Her looks were nice if you ignored the dirt,
Her blue eyes beckoned me to come and play.
But did I want to leave my other friends
To play with this lone girl whom most thought strange?
My recess plans should I now re-arrange?
On playground to be cool so much depends.
Even in youth, unknown emotions stir.
I would endure the ridicule from friends,
The message that my interest in her sends,
But such chances in love so seldom occur.
Rifts in the friendship of boys, time soon mends;
So I will go and I will play with her.
