Reminiscing

“Keith,” she said, “Do you remember
When we were young and you would hold my hand?”
He reached across and took her wrinkled fingers
And felt the worn smooth wedding band.

“Keith,” she said, “Do you remember
When we were young and you would hold me tight?”
He put his arm around her
As they rocked away the night.

“Keith,” she said, “Do you remember
When we were young and you would kiss my neck?”
He reached across the rocker arm
And gave her wrinkled throat a peck.

“Keith,” she said, “do you remember
When we were young and you would nibble on my ear?”
He got up and shuffled off.
Her eyes began to tear.

“Keith,” she called with shaky voice.
Her rocking stopped and she called, “Keith!”
“You just sit there, I’ll be back,” he said,
I’m going to get my teeth.”
