Mom’s Machine

Mommy has a scary machine,
It really makes a lot of noise.
I’ve seen it eat a pair of socks
And some of my favorite toys.

She walks it all around the house
She has to walk it every day.
She keeps it tied up to the wall
I guess so it won’t get away.

I think that Dad’s scared of it too,
‘Cause when it gets close to his chair,
He hides behind his newspaper
And holds his feet up in the air.

Mom shuts it up in the closet.
Sometimes I think I hear it growl.
But when she ties it to the wall
That’s when it always starts to howl.

Mom says that it will just eat dirt
And there is no need to fear it.
But if it’s such a nice machine,
Why won’t my Dad go near it?
