My grandmother always told me
That I should pick my friends with care.
She said that some friends that I chose
Were more than her old bones could bear.

She said I shouldn’t get attached
To the wrong kind of a friend.
She said that they’ll just drag you down
And take you with them in the end.

Well, Grandmother’s advice was good,
It looks as if I needed it.
And now that it’s a little late,
I wish that I had heeded it.
