Consider the Octopus

Consider the octopus
With all his weird features.
He must be the strangest
Of all of God’s creatures.

He changes his color,
It would seem on a whim,
And he changes his shape
When it tends to please him.

But the oddest of things,
If one just stops to think,
With nothing to write with,
Does he need all that ink?

He has eight clingy legs,
Which seems like an excess.
Why couldn’t he have done
With a bunch of legs less?

Be glad that God didn’t
Use his octopus plan
When he drew up his specs
For creating a man.

Just thinking about it,
Would give husbands the blues,
Making out the budget
To include his wife’s shoes!
