Consider the kiwi,
With looks so absurd.
But one must admit
That she’s quite a bird.
With feathers like hair,
No wings for a flight;
A beak that has whiskers!
She’s quite a strange sight.
The egg that she lays,
Is so big, you might ask…
Just how could she ever
Accomplish the task.
Then there’re her feet,
The handiest of tools,
With claws made for digging
And a kick like a mule’s.
She digs like a badger
And lives underground,
She comes out at night
When no one’s around.
Her song is “crrweeeâ€,
Sounding much like a pig,
Which results from, I’m sure,
Laying eggs much too big.
