For our friends Andy and Nancy
They’re selling their house and they’re moving away.
We can’t let them leave us but what can we say?
They’ve found a new house, now Cinderella will try it.
If the cat doesn’t like it, they probably won’t buy it.
All his friends knew it was just idle wishing
When Andy retired, so he could go fishing.
The Honey-Do list Nancy gives him each day,
Makes working seem easy, it was sure better pay.
But Andy worked fast, he got everything done.
Now Andy would have his time in the sun.
“You’ve finished this house,” Nancy said with a grin,
“We’ll buy us another, you can start over again.”
“You can knock out some walls and carpet the floors,
Build a glass room and paint all the doors.”
“When you get that done, you can fish if you please,
But don’t bring them home unless you cook them Chinese.”
That Nancy loves Andy is no unsolved riddle
But then there’s the cat, guess who’s second fiddle.
If Andy and Cinderella were both to get sick,
First to the doctor, guess who she would pick.
Of Nancy’s pet peeves, who and which are just two.
With Andy a “which” and Cinderella a “who”.
Now packing for Andy takes talent and luck,
Christmas ornaments alone, fill one trailer truck.
Then there’re the Barbies, the Dickens and more
Wonder just how they’ll close the truck’s door!
No matter how hard that poor Andy tries
He can’t pack as fast, as ole Nancy buys.
Now Nancy is great and Andy’s a good fellow
But we’re sure going to miss their cat Cinderella.
