The nurse was speaking quietly
While standing there beside my bed.

“I know that this will be your first
And this procedure isn’t fun,
You know you’ll be a better man
Once this operation has been done.”

Had she addressed those words to me,
It would have shown how much she cared.
But she was talking to my surgeon
And that’s what really got me scared!
