When you left me off at preschool,
I was glad you’d named me Tommy.
‘Cause that is what the teacher
And the other kids there call me.
Sister gave me good advice:
“Don’t let them teach you to spell cat.”
She said that if I learned to spell it,
The words get harder after that.
Teacher taught us we should share,
She taught us “lend” and “borrow.”
I must not have learned enough.
I’ve gotta go back tomorrow.
