They watched the tiger in his cage,
The little boy and his dad.
“If he got out,” the father said,
“It surely would be very bad!”
“The sign says it’s a man-eater,”
The little boy quietly said.
“If the tiger was to eat you,
Doesn’t that mean that you’d be dead?”
The dad, pleased with his son’s concern,
But seeing that it made him sad;
“What would you miss the most,” he asked,
“If that old tiger ate your dad?”
The little boy thought for awhile,
Then he said, “For goodness sake,
How in the world would I get home?
I wouldn’t know which bus to take!”
