My neighbor woke me up at four.
He didn’t want to start a fight.
My dog was keeping him awake.
He said that it had barked all night.
I thanked him and hung up the phone
And lay there as my neighbor slept.
Revenge for such a thoughtless deed,
Is always sweeter when it’s kept.
The next night at just after four
I woke him from his sleepy fog.
“I forgot, last night, to tell you
That I don’t even own a dog!”
