Teacher said the Jonah fable
Was nothing but a story tale.
She said a man could never fit
Through the narrow throat of a whale.

Peggy said, “It’s in the Bible
And so the story must be true.
Do you think God, who made the whale,
Doesn’t know what a whale can do?”

Teacher said, “That’s just foolishness,
If you believe it, I don’t care!”
Peggy said, “Jonah’s in Heaven,
I will ask him when I get there.

“He might not have gone to Heaven,
What if your Jonah went to Hell?”
“Well teacher, if you think he’s there,
You can ask him about the whale!”
