You never saw Billy Boombox
Without his monster boom box on.
He always had it turned up loud
Because his hearing was quite gone.
He couldn’t hear an auto crash,
He couldn’t hear an organ grind.
He couldn’t hear an elephant
If it was sneaking up behind.
He couldn’t hear a thunder clap
Nor could he hear the ocean roar.
And if you tried to talk to him
He really was an awful bore.
He wouldn’t hear a bomb explode
If it was right behind his head.
Billy couldn’t hear his Daddy
When he yelled, “It’s time for bed.”
Billy couldn’t hear a boulder
Tumbling from a thousand feet.
But he always heard his mother
When she said, “It’s time to eat.”
