My guest was departing;
He had just spent the night.
I asked him as he left,
“Was everything alright?”
He said it had been great,
No if, and, or maybe.
And the bed was a dream;
He’d slept like a baby.
When I cleaned up his room,
It was true what he’d said.
He’d slept like a baby,
He’d even wet the bed.
When you ask a visitor who has spent the night at your house how they slept, they always seem to say that they slept like a baby. I got to thinking though, that when our kids were babies, they woke up every two hours and cried.
Let me make it clear from the start, lest any of you take offense, that none of our guests has ever wet the bed! But in writing Guest that made a much funnier story than waking up every two hours and crying.
